In Central Delaware, Kent County is the location of Dove City. Dove city being the capital of Delaware continues to grow economically, in population, and in land area. On 1683 City of Dove was founded by William Penn. In 1717, it was officially laid out over an area of 125 acres by a commission of the Delaware General Assembly. By 1960 the City of Dove grew to nearly 1,000 acres.

Dover is a thriving community. Residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional development continues at a stable rate. Visitors to Dover are pleasantly surprised by the variety of historical and cultural attractions, beautiful farmland and coastal scenery, and our curious mix of old traditions and modern high-tech culture.

There are also Amish buggies found in the City of Dove, delicate shorebirds and giant C-5 Galaxy military cargo planes, quiet museums and exciting NASCAR races, arts and antiques, Colonial history, slots and harness racing. The twenty delightful museums and historic sites offer free admission, adding value to your visit.

Since 1933 Delawares Capital, City of Dove has always had an Old Dover Days Festival. Around 15,000 visitors attended the festival that traditional elements and new components attract the visitors. It is held on The Green and Legislative Mall, two beautiful outdoor parks in our historic downtown district.

The Old Dover Days Festival will be held on May 2, 2009 for this year. Admission fee is free with a lot of parking space available for free too. Most of the vendors from the previous festivals return year after year. Old Dover Days is a celebration of the First States Capital City and features a parade, maypole dancing, food court, re-enactors, walking tours, free entertainment and much more!
